Over three hundred Rubik’s cube enthusiasts took part in the 2007 Rubik’s World Speedcubing Championship with high hopes of becoming the new master of the fiendishly difficult puzzle. However, there could only be one winner and that finger twister was Yu Nakajima who defeated all – is your jaw ready to hit the floor – with an amazing average solving time of 12.46 seconds. Remember folks, Rubik’s cube has over 43 quintillion configurations (exactly 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 degrees of difficulty) and only one solution, so if your jaw didn’t hit the floor before then it should now. Forget the video we showed you a while back of the chap doing the cube with one hand, the event in Budapest saw over 100 competitors participating in 3x3x3, 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 events and a series of challenges including one-handed, blindfolded, fewest moves and foot-cubing. I don’t know about you but we’re already preparing for the 2009 championships…Now where’s that blindfold?
